My blackjack II is great or was great...
I've owned a Samsung Blackjack II since March of 2008.
This phone is an awesome pic for anyone who wants to be inducted into the "smartphone" world, this was first smartphone too.
First, the appeal.
The blackjack II has a definite sexy appeal to it. It's black, sleek, slim and the display has a mirrored effect. Compared to all the Win-Mo phones, this one is one of the sexiest.
The phone uses a proprietary Samsung adapter so you can't use your own headphones with it.
The microSD slot is on the outside of the phone, so you can change mircoSD cards conveniently. Whats not so convenient is the fact that the slot is embedded in the phone so it's difficult to get the SD card in and out of the phone if you don't have nails.
The phone has a very convenient scroll wheel that you rarely use. Also my finger slips off of it a lot when scrolling fast.
The keyboard is awesome for my fingers. When typing, the phone often misses letters. The most often letters missed are O and E. I don't know if this is a software issue or a hardware issue. I have heard that this is a problem with others too.
The screen is okay, when scrolling through the menus some items were pixely, if that's a word?
Camera. Its bad. Just horrible. The images are blurry and come out foggy too.
The sound is okay but the phone doesn't have stereo speakers. The sound comes out of a hole at the top of the phone. I find I have to turn down the volume constantly because the speaker is just too loud.
The phone runs Windows 6.1 and the scrolling menu works amazing. Definitely the most convenient part of the phone. It also has threaded messages like an IM conversation or the iPhone.
Overall, this is a great option for anyone looking into the smartphone world. It only 49.99 for a two-year agreement on At&t and its one of the easier Windows Mobile phones.
It is currently being replaced with the Blackjack III with looks a lot like the Curve 8900
